Meghalaya election 2018: In the wake of the alleged over Rs 11,000 crore PNB scam, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday made his most direct attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Gandhi, who was campaigning in Meghalaya ahead of Assembly elections in the state, was quoted as saying by ANI: “Narendra Modi is not against corruption, he is an instrument of corruption.”

In another scathing attack on the PM, Gandhi said Modi will make democracy disappear from the country. “Modi’s magic which made scamsters Mallya, Nirav Modi disappear can make democracy disappear from India very soon,” he was quoted as saying by PTI.

The Congress president also targetted the prime minister on Twitter, with sarcastic jibes on the monthly ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme. “Modi Ji, last month you ignored my suggestions for your Mann Ki Baat monologue. “Why ask for ideas when in your heart you know what every Indian wants to hear you speak about? “1. Nirav Modi’s 22,000 Crore Loot and Scoot “2. The 58,000 Crore RAFALE scam. “I look forward to your sermon,” Gandhi tweeted.

This tweet came around a month after Gandhi had poked fun at Modi’s monthly radio programme. Gandhi had tweeted in January: “Dear @narendramodi, since you’ve requested some ideas for your #MannKiBaat monologue, tell us about how you plan to: “1. Get our youth JOBS. “2. Get the Chinese out of DHOKA-LAM. “3. Stop the RAPES in Haryana.”

Addressing a rally in Meghalaya today Gandhi said, “The NPP are running a government in Manipur with the BJP, which the BJP formed by using ill-gotten money and power. Today, I promise you that we will not allow what happened in Manipur to be repeated in Meghalaya.”

“We will unite each and every voice in Meghalaya & together we shall once again form a Govt in Meghalaya. Gone are the days of bandhs, strikes, and violent activities. This atmosphere of peace and stability under our Govt. has bought development and good governance in Meghalaya. The Congress Party will always strive to protect and strengthen the traditional governance systems in Meghalaya. Any attempt at diluting them is unconstitutional and will be resisted tooth and nail,” INCIndia tweeted Gandhi as saying in Meghalaya.
