Prime Minister Narendra Modi has innumerable fans across the country. But this one is a bit unusual as she prepares to take on BJP candidate Rita Bahuguna Joshi from the Lucknow Cantonment Area in the upcoming Assembly election in the state.
Unlike other members of Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav’s extended family, his youngest daughter-in-law, Aparna Yadav, has never tried to hide her support to PM Modi’s initiatives as well as issues like cow slaughter and intolerance for which the BJP is repeatedly attacked by the opposition parties.
In past, Aparna has clicked selfies with PM Modi, supported Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and remained vocal against issues like cow slaughter. She had also slammed actor Aamir Khan for talking about intolerance in the country.
Aparna is married to Prateek Yadav, who is the son of Mulayam’s second wife Sadhana Gupta. Interestingly, Sadhana has been blamed by an SP MLC for “orchestrating” a family rebellion against Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav. The SP MLC, Udaiveer Singh, was suspended from the party after he made this allegation.
According to HT, Aparna got the Lucknow Cantonment ticket after she demanded a “fair share of Mulayam’s political legacy vis-a-vis Akhilesh’s wife Dimple Yadav, who is a Member of Parliament from Kannauj.
Aparna’s father Arvind Singh Bisht, who was a political editor of an English newspaper and reportedly close to Mulayam, is now the State Information Commissioner, while her mother Ambi Bisht is a senior official of the Lucknow Cantonment.
However, Aparna is preparing to take on the BJP from a constituency that has never been an SP stronghold.
