MCD elections 2017: Senior BJP leaders, from Arun Jaitley to Smriti Irani, to campaign for during Delhi polls

Campaigning vigorously for the upcoming municipal polls, BJP has prepared a list of its star campaigners.

In order to win significant Purvanchali voters ahead of the Municipal polls in Delhi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has brought out its biggest guns. Purvanchalis, comprise people from Bihar, Jharkhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Campaigning vigorously for the upcoming municipal polls, the party has prepared a list of its star campaigners, including the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley, Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, along with Vijay Goel, Jitendra Singh, Sanjeev Balyan, Smriti Irani, Radha Mohan Singh and Ravi Shankar Prasad.

To focus on Purvanchali voters, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya, along with Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh, MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, CM Assam Sarbananda Sonowal, Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das, are also a part of the list. Among other star campaigners are Kalraj Mishra, Giriraj Singh, Ramesh Bidhuri, Maheish Girri and Delhi unit chief Manoj Tiwari, actress Hema Malini and actor Ravi Kishan, as reported by Indian Express. The list contains 53 names and has been sent to the election commission for approval.

Earlier, with the appointment of actor Manoj Tiwari as the Delhi unit president, BJP had played its regional card. Manoj Tiwari is the first Purvanchali chosen as the head of the Delhi unit. “Big leaders campaigning for the party makes an impact on voters. It makes voters believe that they are taken seriously. If our central ministers approach people and promise development, the voter will know that party is thinking about them and their problems will be taken at the highest level,” said a senior party leader told Indian Express.
