Taking a swipe at Arvind Kejriwal, Poonam Mahajan of BJP on Wednesday said that her 4-year-old accepts defeat with more maturity. In a series of tweets, she congratulated Manoj Tiwari for achieving the dreams of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. “Thank you Delhi for thumping win in MCD Elections. Big congrats to @ManojTiwariMP ji for achieving dreams of @narendramodi ji & @AmitShah ji. Yeh Modi ji ki leher nahin lekin EVM ki leher hain !!! Wah AAP ! My 4 year old accepts her defeat with more maturity!,” she wrote on the micro-blogging site. In another tweet she said “Maximum no. of disqualified MLA’s! No talks of governance! The @AamAadmiParty has lost moral rights to hold office.”
With BJP looking all set to win the Delhi MCD elections 2017, as per the current trends, senior AAP leader Gopal Rai has put the blame on allegedly faulty EVMs. Speaking to reporters after the early leads in the polls came out, Rai told reporters that BJP was not winning because of a “Narendra Modi-wave” but because of “EVM-wave” that also helped the saffron party win Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. AAP leader Ashutosh also questioned the use of EVMs in the MCD elections 2017. He claimed that BJP has not done anything in the last 10 years, and he wondered why would the people vote for it.
The MCD elections were held on April 23 which saw a voter turnout of almost 53.58 per cent, marginally higher than the 2012 elections. With AAP failing to secure a win in any of the three municipal corporations, party leaders are currently meeting at Delhi CM and party chief Arvind Kejriwal’s house. Deputy CM Manish Sisodia was already at Kejriwal’s residence ahead of counting. Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari has said Kejriwal has no basis to continue as CM as the MCD results clearly indicate that the people of Delhi want a change. Meanwhile, Ashutosh said that Kejriwal has no reason to resign.
According to the latest data by ABP news, BJP is leading in 181 seats, Congress is ahead in 34 seats while AAP is leading in 41 wards. Others are leading in 14 wards.
