MCD election results 2017: Abandoning all talk of EVM manipulation that he had indulged in leading up to results day, Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday congratulated the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on their big win in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi polls. He said that the AAP government under him looked forward to working with the various Delhi Municipal Corporations zones for the betterment of Delhi. The statement goes against his previous statements where he had alleged tampering of electronic voting machines (EVMs) in the polls. AAP leader Ashutosh had also spoken to reporters after the results had been declared today and questioned the use of EVMs in the MCD elections 2017. This reaction came in the wake of the meet held earlier in the morning at Kejriwal’s house that was attended by Dy CM Manish Sisodia and senior leader Gopal Rai.
Ashutosh had said that the BJP had done nothing in the last 10 years and wondered why the people of Delhi would vote for the party. Meanwhile Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia also addressed a press conference and said that MCD polls results were unbelievable. However, Delhi Congress President Ajay Maken is reported to have resigned after taking responsibility for the grand old party’s abysmal performance in the polls.
I congratulate BJP on their victory in all 3 MCDs. My govt looks forward to working wid MCDs for the betterment of Delhi

Meanwhile, BJP leader Nitin Gadkari has lashed out at Kejriwal by saying he should concentrate on development instead of EVM machines. BJP Delhi unit chief Manoj Tiwari gave credit to Narendra Modi’s vision and hard work of party workers for the win. Earlier, BJP Chief Amit Shah, while speaking to the media in Kolkata, West Bengal, said that the result in Delhi is another push in BJP’s victory march. He also took a dig at Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP government. Shah said that the results show that it is the end of politics of negativity. He added that BJP’s welfare politics of ‘sabka death’ has won over the politics of blame game and excuses. Shah had also said that the results are like a stamp of approval on the three years of work done by PM Narendra Modi in the country.
