AAP leader Manish Sisodia, on Wednesday blamed EVM tampering as the main reason behind the rout of his party in the recently conducted Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections.
With a deep frown on his face, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia, on Wednesday blamed EVM tampering as the main reason behind the rout of his party in the recently conducted Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections. Sisodia took to micro-blogging site Twitter first to express his disbelief in a series of tweets taking a jibe at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which is all set to sweep the civic body polls for the third consecutive term. He wrote: “After losing elections in 2009, BJP did research on EVM tampering for the next 5 years and gained expertise and today it is winning elections due to the same.”
He further posted, “Not just research, but many prominent leaders of BJP including BGL Narsimha Rao and LK Advani have also written books on EVM and even went to Supreme Court for EVM tampering issues.” He went on to add, “EVM tampering is a bitter truth of country’s democracy that can be criticised in the first place. However, just due to the fear of crticism we cannot stop speaking the truth”.

Later addressing a press conference, the deputy CM also expressed his astonishment and said that MCD results are hard to believe. He said that there is no reason why citizens of Delhi would prefer a party that has only spread garbage here. Sisodia also said that there is nothing apart from corruption in Delhi’s civic body.
If the ongoing trend holds, AAP’s poor performance in the civic polls will come as a huge setback for Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has earlier claimed that people of Delhi are with his party. As per the latest update, BJP is leading with huge margins in all three regions of Delhi civic body. Apart from Sisodia, several other AAP leaders including Ashutosh have also blamed ‘EVM tampering’ for the results going in favour of BJP. However, AAP convener Kejriwal is yet to make any comments on the poll debacle and has met senior leaders Sisodia and Gopal Rai at his residence in Delhi.
