Martyred jawan Sudees Kumar’s father on Tuesday decided not to perform funeral rights of his son until Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav pays a visit. He also accused Akhilesh of being “biased”. “We will perform his funeral after meeting with CM Akhilesh Yadav”. Sudees was killed in a ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri sector of Jammu region. The 24-year-old, who is survived by his wife, was martyred while manning a forward post. His funeral rights was supposed to take place in Sambhal district today.
“He was shot at about 5pm and died on the spot,” Defence spokesperson Lt Col Manish Mehta said, adding that the Indian side responded appropriately to the firing.
Colonel Manish Mehta confirmed the incident. “An Army Jawan, Sepoy Sudees Kumar, was martyred when Pakistan Army initiated indiscriminate and unprovoked firing on Indian Army posts along the Line of Control in Rajouri sector,” he had said.
