Today, the Kerala state assembly witnessed some hard hitting questions raised against the Chief Minister by Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan did a U-turn of sorts when he stated, "I have never said that there was no conspiracy in this attack case on the actress." He had further stated that his response was not based on any official information but on a news report and he took a jibe at media when he said, "Let police conduct the probe, media need not do so." This has come under strong criticism from the Opposition which stated in the state assembly that the government has not been supporting the actress. Addressing the Assembly, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala said that the Chief Minister's statement that there is no conspiracy behind the incident raised suspicions. However, Kerala Chief Minister had clarified later that his statement was based on a news report. He asked the Opposition not to politicize the incident. In the state assembly this morning, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithaal asked some hard hitting questions. To the CM's statement, Ramesh Chennithala asked, "How can the Chief Minister of a state, who also holds charge of the Home Ministry, issue statements on a sensitive case like this based on news reports?" Meanwhile, V Muralidharan, fomer Kerala BJP unit president said, "Why was the CM in such a hurry to say this was an incident by the main accused only? The CPI-M backed Kairali channel also showed the actress in a very poor light. Remember, the chief of Kairali TV is media advisor to the Kerala CM. A court based probe or investigation by a central agency is the need of the hour." What a blooper!\u00a0 Pulsar Sunil could not be caught till the police spotted him inside court! Given that both Congress and BJP are strongly pitching for a central investigating agency or a court-based probe, the best course of action for the Kerala Chief Minister would be to allow it. If not, this political slugfest will continue and the allegations against the Kerala Chief Minister will keep mounting, all of which will not help the ruling government nor the police investigation to move forward in the right direction.
