Eknath Shinde Live News, Maharashtra Political Crisis Live: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday hit out at the Eknath Shinde camp for naming the group after Balasaheb Thackeray. After the national executive meeting of the party ended, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut told reporters, “The Maharashtra CM at the meeting said that the leaders who have left Shiv Sena should not ask for votes in the name of Shiv Sena and Balasaheb Thackeray. Ask for votes in the name of your father.” Earlier in the day, the Eknath Shinde faction announced that it was calling itself ‘Shiv Sena Balasaheb Group’ at a meeting in Guwahati. Reacting to this development, senior Congress leader Ashok Chavan said that such groups will not be recognised as long as it is legally authorised by the Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly. The Mumbai Police on Saturday imposed Section 144 in the city till July 10 as Shiv Sena workers threatened retaliation against the ‘rebel’ MLAs. The Maharashtra police, especially in Mumbai, were put on high alert on Friday after receiving intelligence inputs of Shiv Sainiks hitting the streets in huge numbers. Earlier, Sanjay Raut said that the families of the rebel MLAs won’t be provided security after rebel Shiv Sena MLA Eknath Shinde on Saturday wrote to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray claiming that the removal of security for the families of the 38 ‘rebel’ MLAs was done with ‘malicious’ intent, while adding that it is the duty of the state government to protect them and their families. Reacting to the attack on Shiv Sena ‘rebel’ MLA Tanaji Sawant’s office, Pune party unit chief Sanjay More said that “all traitors and rebel MLAs who have troubled our chief Uddhav Thackeray will face this type of action.”
In order to decide the fate of Maharashtra amid the ongoing political turmoil, several stakeholders have called important meetings on Saturday with the Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis met BJP’s allies Union Ramdas Athawale at his residence. Soon after the National Executive Meet, which was attended by Uddhav Thackeray and state minister Aaditya Thackeray, concluded, disqualification notices were sent to 16 ‘rebel’ MLAs by the Deputy Speaker of the state assembly Narhari Zirwal. The 16 legislators will have to file their written replies by June 27. Talking to FE online, former Chief Election Commissioner SY Quraish said that the Shiv Sena might have sent the (names of) 16 die-hard supporters of the ‘rebel’ camp for disqualification in a desperate attempt to intimidate the rest sitting on the fence to return.
“You already know what was discussed in the meeting, the important thing is that we will not forget the betrayal done by rebel Shiv Sena MLAs. We (Shiv Sena) will win for sure,” Maharashtra Minister Aaditya Thackeray told reporters. (ANI)

“Recognition should be given to our faction, if it isn't given, we'll go to court and prove our existence and numbers. We've numbers, but we respect CM Uddhav Thackeray, we won't speak against him. We must follow the path on which we fought Assembly elections,” said Rebel MLA Deepak Kesarkar. (ANI)
“No party is paying for our expenses (of hotel accommodation), our leader Eknath Shinde called us and we came and stayed here (Guwahati hotel); will pay the expenses. BJP isn't behind all of this,” says Rebel MLA Deepak Kesarkar. (ANI)
