Fadnavis had gone to Latur in Marathwada for the BJP’s ‘Shivar Samwad Sabha’, a statewide campaign to reach out to farmers. While returning from there, the chopper developed a technical fault and suffered substantial damage, reported news agency PTI. “I am safe. There was a minor accident involving the helicopter. People shouldn’t believe in rumours,” Fadnavis was quoted saying by the agency after the incident. “Nobody got hurt. My media advisor Ketan Pathak has suffered minor injuries. With the blessings of 11 crore people of Maharashtra, I am safe,” he added.
He added that the pilot too had not been injured seriously. “This is a new helicopter. We will seek information from police on this incident,” the chief minister said. Meanwhile, the pilot said that the accident happened as the wind speed was high. “Took off from helipad at 12, wind speed then was high. Later when we initiated, wind speed reduced,” he was quoted saying by ANI. The pilot added that there was high cable near the chopper and even though he tried to avoid, the helicopter touched it while coming down. “Helicopter then started coming down, there was a high tension cable there, we tried avoiding it but by then helicopter had touched it,” he said.
