Madurai, Kancheepuram, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Nilgiris Election Results 2026 Highlights: TVK leads in over 100 seats

According to ECI data at 3:30 pm, three AIADMK and one Pattali Makkal Katchi candidate continue to hold Dharmapuri district. The TVK has now overtaken V Selvam (Pattali Makkal Katchi) in Pennagaram. TVK leader Gajendran S now holds a 2790 vote lead in the seat.

Even as the Congress party celebrated their significant lead in Keralam as vote counting trends continue to roll in on Monday, the alliance's poor performance in Tamil Nadu, Assam, and Puducherry has cast a shadow over its pan-India prospects.

INDIA bloc parties, consisting of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist), have failed to materialise their support into votes in their respective states. However, the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) has started celebrations across Congress party offices.

The TVK appears likely to emerge as the single largest party and form the government. The focus has now shifted to the poll promises made by actor-politician Vijay --- including 8 gm gold for marriage, which is worth about Rs 14,000 (22 carat).

Vijay's assurances in the party manifesto include Rs 2,500 monthly assistance for women below 60 years, 8 gm gold for marriage and six free cooking gas cylinders a year, per family. The actor-turned-politician also assured a quality silk saree in addition to gold for indigent brides and interest-free loans up to Rs 5 lakh for women-run SHGs. He assured corruption-free good governance if voted to power in his maiden electoral fight.

The manifesto also laid importance on education. To prevent school dropouts, mothers or guardians of children studying in government and state-aided schools will receive Rs 15,000 annually.

The Election Commission has declared the results for the Gudalur constituency. DMK candidate M Dravidamani was declared the winner after polling 65,590 votes. AIADMK candidate Pon Jayaseelan was a distant second with a margin of 22,833 votes.

The TVK has done especially well in northern districts, including Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, and Thiruvallur, making significant inroads into the Dravidian majors, according to trends released by the Election Commission of India on Monday.

The TVK has also made its presence felt in central Tamil Nadu, including Tiruchirappalli, Thanjavur, Karur, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Pudukkottai, and Mayiladuthurai.

The DMK and its allies' bastion of Madurai city, comprising north, east, west, central, and south segments, was dominated by the TVK.

TVK made a strong impact in southern districts, including Madurai, Dindigul, Theni, Virudhunagar, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, and Tenkasi.

TVK candidates were also leading in several constituencies in the delta districts, including Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, and Mayiladuthurai, as well as parts of Salem.

In addition, the TVK made gains in several pockets of Kanyakumari, traditionally a Congress stronghold.

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is leading in 105 seats in the ongoing Tamil Nadu Assembly election counting.

The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) was ahead in 64 constituencies, while the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) was leading in 44 seats.

Smaller parties, including the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), Indian National Congress (INC), and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), were leading in 4, 5, and 3 seats, respectively.

The counting process is still underway, and the final results are yet to be officially declared by the Election Commission.

According to ECI data at 12:30 pm, three AIADMK and two Pattali Makkal Katchi candidates are holding Dharmapuri district.

Data from the Election Commission indicated that 104 of its candidates were ahead at 11:15 am. The party is now close to the majority mark of 118 --- with the AIADMK currently leading on 67 seats, while the ruling DMK is a distant third with a lead in 40 constituencies.

- Major upset in Madurai Central, where Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan (PTR) is trailing. TVK's Madhar Badhurudeen is leading by 1,680 votes as of Round 4.

- PMK's Sowmiya Anbumani is holding a solid lead in the Dharmapuri constituency with 4,158 votes. TVK is currently in second place here.

TVK candidates are also leading in several segments across Kancheepuram district.

According to the Election Commission of India, Vijay’s TVK is leading in 98 seats. The AIADMK is second with a lead in 63 seats while DMK trails with 35 seats.

The latest data from the Election Commission shows that the ruling DMK has now slipped to third place in early trends. The Vijay-led TVK is now ahead in more than 80 seats. According to an EC update, Chief Minister MK Stalin and 14 cabinet colleagues are trailing.

TVK candidates are now leading from the Sriperumbudur (SC) seat in Kancheepuram and the Uthangarai constituency in the Krishnagiri district.

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam chief Vijay took an early lead in the Tiruchirappalli East Assembly constituency at the end of the first round of counting by a margin of 1,669 votes. He is also contesting from Perambur.

According do the latest data shared by the Election Commission of India the AIADMK is leading on 15 seats, the TVK on 15 and DMK on 8 seats.

According to the early trends, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami is trailing from Edapaddi as DMK candidate Kasi C has taken early lead.

The DMK had conducted statewide training sessions for its counting agents, focusing on procedures to be followed inside counting centres.

Madurai district has set up as many as five counting centres for in its 10 constituencies. No vehicles will be allowed within 100m from the centres.

From southern strongholds to northern rural belts and hill constituencies, these districts together reflect the diversity that will influence the final results.

Initial leads and trends are likely to emerge soon after counting begins, offering early clues about the outcome.

Counting will begin with postal ballots, followed by EVM rounds across all constituencies.
