Counting of votes for the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026 began at 8 am today, with high-stakes contests unfolding across Madurai, Kancheepuram, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, and the Nilgiris. From the politically charged Madurai to the high-growth urban belt of Kancheepuram, these regions are witnessing key battles that could significantly tilt the balance of power in the state.

With polling completed in a single phase on April 23, attention has now shifted to whether the ruling alliance can hold its ground or if the opposition can convert localised anti-incumbency, caste equations, and regional strongholds into electoral gains.
