Madhya Pradesh farmers protest: Former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav on Thursday confused Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh. Lalu messed things up after members of the media asked him a question about the farmers protest in Mandsaur in which five farmers have lost their lives in police firing on Tuesday. The RJD supremo said that Raman Singh was busy at Baba Ramdev’s yoga camp instead of controlling the situation in Mandsaur. However, it was Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh who is currently attending Baba Ramdev’s yoga camp in Motihari, Bihar and not Raman Singh. In any case, Raman Singh is the CM of Chhatisgarh and has nothing to do with happenings in Madhya Pradesh. The former Bihar CM said, ”Trouble is brewing in Madhya Pradesh but Raman Singh is busy at Ramdev’s camp in Motihari in Bihar. The government is anti-farmer and we condemn the killing of the farmers in police firing in Mandsaur”.
Lalu also came out in support of the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi who was detained and later released as he tried to enter Madhya Pradesh – ultimately he was allowed to meet the kin of farmers who had lost their lives. Lalu said, ”Opposition leaders who were going to meet the family members of those killed in police action were arrested in the state, the government is cheating the farmers”.
Lalu also attacked the media for allegedly reporting a false story about his daughter Misa Bharti and his son-in-law Shailesh being fined Rs 10,000 for not appearing before the ED and the IT department, according to India Today. Lalu also said that Centre was trying to silence opposition parties.
