The debate around the Aadhaar card is doing rounds with people fearing the breach of their privacy as the details provided there can be misused by unethical elements. Confirming the fear of the public, in this instance in a case involving a cricket celebrity, CSC e-governance Services India Ltd tweeted a picture of iconic cricketer and former Team India captain M S Dhoni scanning his finger and getting his Aadhaar updated. They also went a step ahead and tweeted his application form, revealing all his personal details. Clearly, this has exposed Dhoni in a major way as these details are expected to be kept a secret, or at least not splashed across the public domain via the social media.

Not pleased with this, a clearly furious Sakshi Dhoni, wife of Dhoni took to Twitter asking Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad if there is any privacy left? She went on to tweet that it was quite unbecoming of authorities to turn Dhoni’s Aadhaar card including his application into public property.

The Union Minister who had initially ‘liked’ the tweet without noticing the details asked Sakshi whether the tweet divulges any personal information. On Sakshi’s further posting the CSC e-governance picture, the Union minister promised Sakshi that strict action will be taken against this. He also said that sharing private information like this is illegal.

Meanwhile, CSCegov has removed the controversial picture from their Twitter handle. Here is the full conversation:

In the latest development, Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha and General Secretary of the Congress party Digvijay Singh has tweeted asking Ravi Shankar to apologize immediately and a new Aadhar card to be made for Dhoni.

Later in the day, Ravi Shankar Prasad clarified that the person posting the picture got excited and that the Aadhar is extremely safe.
