“The biggest question is that the party, which resigned its government in only 49 days on the issue of the Janlokpal, has this time not appointed a Lokayukta even 120 days after coming to power. There was an existing Lokayukta during our government in Delhi; why has the AAP not appointed somebody?” Congress leader Ajay Maken said at a press briefing here.
“We demand that the Delhi government appoint a Lokayukta within two weeks, failing which the Congress party will take to the streets,” he added.
Maken further said that the appointment of a Lokayukta will help take action against ‘fake’ ministers.
“Before the [2015 Delhi assembly] elections, this party had an internal Lokpal, but after the elections they removed him. If the Lokayukta is not appointed, how can there be action against fake ministers like Jitendra Singh Tomar? There are several cases against AAP MLAs and ministers and without a Lokayukta, there cannot be any action against them,” he said.
“Kejriwal ji should know that after he has become the chief minister, there cannot be politics of ‘virodh and vidhroh’ (opposition and rebellion),” he added.
