Kargil Vijay Diwas: From leaders to businessmen to sportsperson, India pours in tributes

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today paid rich tribute the martyrs on the 17th Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today paid rich tribute the martyrs on the 17th Kargil Vijay Diwas. PM Modi said that India recall with pride the firmness shown by then political leadership and ensured decisive victory in Kargil. Home Minister Rajnath Singh also paid homage to the martyrs for their ‘supreme sacrifice & exemplary courage’ shown during the 1999 war.

“On Kargil Vijay Diwas I bow to every valiant soldier who fought for India till the very last breath. Their heroic sacrifices inspire us,” tweeted PM adding, “We recall with pride, the firmness demonstrated by India’s political leadership in 1999, which ensured a decisive victory in Kargil.” In another tweet, PM said, “India will never forget the fearlessness with which our courageous soldiers gave a befitting & unforgettable reply to the intruders.” Defence minister Manohar Parrikar paid tribute to martyrs in Dras where Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations will be carried out today.

“Remembering the heroes of Kargil war victory for their bravery and sacrifice. I join the Nation in saluting them,” tweeted Parrikar. Army Chief Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag and 2 services chief (Navy, Air Force) also accompanied Manohar Parrikar.

“I salute the supreme sacrifice & exemplary courage of our soldiers who laid down their lives in Kargil war. They are our nation’s true heroes,” tweeted Rajnath Singh.
