The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) today claimed that its jawans have thwarted a terrorist attack on its camp in Karan Nagar area of Srinagar, just hours after a deadly attack at the Sunjuwan army camp in Jammu that led to the martyrdom of five army personnel and one civilian.

This comes just hours after a deadly attack at the Sunjuwan army camp in Jammu that led to the martyrdom of five army personnel and one civilian. An encounter has ensued at the CRPF camp in Karan Nagar of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. It has been learnt that terrorists tried to carry out a fidayeen type of attack, according to TV reports. Security forces in other areas have been alerted even as gun shots are being heard near the CRPF camp. The area has been cordoned off by the security force. Two terrorists are believed to be holed up, the reports said.
Earlier, in the wee hours of Monday, two terrorists, carrying bags and armed with AK47s, were seen approaching towards the CRPF camp.The sentries immediately opened fire at around 4.30 am, according to reports citing a CRPF spokesperson. The official said that the sentry at the camp noticed two suspicious persons at around 4.30 am, carrying backpacks and weapons. Jawans challenged them and opened fire as well, the spokesman said.
Intermittent exchange of fire has been reported and the CRPF moved in more troops to ensure that the militants do not escape.
