PM Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated the team of scientists for the successful launch of the GSAT-9. The GSAT-9 had taken off earlier today from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota at 4:57 PM. The Prime Minister is currently addressing a programme via video conferencing with the leaders of all the countries involved with the project. PM Modi said that this is a ‘historic day for the region.” He added that the satellite ”will help everyone concerned in governance matters’.

The Prime Minister said that launch of the GSAT-9 was a historic moment and opened up new horizons of engagement and would greatly benefit the progress of South Asia and our region. PM Modi also congratulated the team of scientists who worked hard for the successful launch of South Asian Satelite. PM Modi said that historic occasion had been made more special with the presence of South Asian nations who had joined in the celebrations for the successful launch. he said that the support and the presence of these leaders would even add more joy in the hearts and minds of the region.
The Prime Minister spoke about the unity of the region and said that the South Asian countries were a family and were united in the pursuit of peace, progress and prosperity of our region and the entire humankind. Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, who was also present at the momentous occasion said that she was happy to have been able to talk with PM Modi and other esteemed leaders present at the moment. She congratulated the Government of India and said that the betterment of people could happen though fruitful engagement.
