In a major success in anti-Naxalite operation, 10 ultras have been killed by police officials, according to reports. It has been learnt that one policeman was also injured in the operation. As per latest reports, it was a joint operation which was carried out by police personnel of Chhattisgarh and Telangana. This comes after two policemen were killed last month. Before that four policemen were killed in January.
In February, two policemen were killed and six others injured in a gun-battle with the Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district. The encounter took place in a forest under the Bhejji police station when a joint team of the Special Task Force (STF), District Reserve Guard (DRG) and local police was out on an “area-domination operation”, Deputy Inspector General of Police (South Bastar range) Sundarraj P was quoted as saying by PTI.
In January, four police personnel, including two sub-inspectors, were killed and seven others injured in a gun-fight with Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur. The encounter took place in the forests of Irpanar village in Abhujmad area when a police team was out on anti- Naxal operation, Special Director General of Police (anti- Naxal operations) D M Awasthi said, as per report.
