Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung today appointed a three member committee to look into the 400 files submitted by the Delhi Govt. The committee will look into the ‘infirmities and irregularities’ in the files submitted by the Kejriwal Govt.
The panel that consists of prominent names Former Comptroller and Auditor General V K Shunglu, Former Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami and Former Chief Vigilance Commissioner Pradeep Kumar will assist the LG. The files were submitted following the judgement of High Court on August 4, 2016.
The Court had directed Principal Secretaries of Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi to look into the files for instances where permission of the LG was needed but not obtained. All these discrepancies will be presented before the High Court as well.
These files will bring forth the loopholes that are in violation of Acts/Rules regarding the legal framework prescribed.
The newly formed Committee will not only look and analyse all such cases but also recommend the course of action, if any- criminal, non-criminal needs to be taken or not. They will outline the administrative, legal and financial repercussions of the regularization/non-regularization of the decisions as well.
While 400 files have already reached the Lieutenant Governor’s courtyard, more are still awaited.
