Watch out, MPs!
Watch out, MPs!
This refers to “Washout in Parliament over Lalit Lodi, Vyapam issues” (July 23). The continued washout in both houses of Parliament, for the second consecutive day, speaks volume about the desirability of some concrete and conciliatory action on the part of PM Modi in the ongoing tussle of the Opposition with the government, the roots of which lie elsewhere. However, the arrogant manner in which the united Opposition has been behaving, it seems they are more interested in taking the entire nation for a ride by relentlessly insisting on the resignations of BJP’s Sushma Swaraj, Vashundhra Raje and Shivraj Singh Chouhan without any meaningful discussions. The resignations will not, in any way, change the party-wise ‘sitting plan’ inside Parliament as the Opposition’s numbers won’t undergo any change. The daily soap opera playing out in the current session of Parliament does great injustice to the nation as a whole. Such rigidity, sans morality, on the part of the government could also be misconstrued as total defiance by the masses. It is thus the responsibility of the PM to urgently try to find a solution to this political impasse. The Opposition also can’t escape its responsibilities of performing its duty . Our parliamentarians must also not forget that each one of them is being watched live by the public, on the national television. They better watch out as the people across the nation can no longer be fooled into thinking stalling the proceedings of Parliament for political rather than policy reasons, at great costs to the exchequer, will be taken to kindly.
