It is a matter of great shame that Congress MLAs in the Maharashtra Assembly manhandled the Speaker. Suspension of the five MLAs for 2 years for unbecoming conduct is not enough. Criminal cases should be filed against them. They should suffer the consequences of their action against a Constitutional figure. All benefits attached to them as members of the assembly should be revoked. It is unfortunate that the constituencies represented by them would go unrepresented for 2 years. The task of representing the people of these constituencies should be entrusted to the MLAs of neighbouring constituencies or the Governor’s office. People should not be forced to suffer for no fault of their own. This is very unsportsmanlike of the Congress which lost power in the state.
The column on modular smartphones was rather timely. Google seems to have had the right idea with Project Ara. A smartphone that can be assembled as per the user’s desire is definitely a step in the right direction. Though this is still a few years away from hitting the markets, it is still inspiring to know that tech companies are quick to read the customer’s mind and configure their businesses accordingly. But shouldn’t the company also look at a Ara One kind of specification list, on the lines of its Android One project. Too much customisation with Android took a toll on the OS and Google’s image, as far as user experience was concerned, took a beating. It is perhaps advisable that Google pre-empt such a problem with Ara and partner module-makers and bring out a list of specifications for assembly. A stitch in time could save nine!
