Days back violence erupted at the Ramjas college of the Delhi University, as right-wing ABVP opposed the invitation of JNU student Umar Khalid at a seminar in the college. Following the violence, Kargil martyr’s daughter Gurmehar Kaur, started a social media campaign stating that she is not scared of the ABVP.
Over her campaign, Gurmehar received several threats and had also been trolled by celebrity figures like Virender Sehwag, Randeep Hooda. Trolling the DU student over a video she shared last year, saying that ‘Pakistan didn’t kill my father, war killed him’, Virendra Sehwag trolled her saying, ‘i didn’t score two triple centuries, my bat did’.
Hitting out at those who had trolled her, Gurmehar Kaur earlier said, “To anyone questioning my courage and bravery. I’ve shown more than enough.” It has been learned that students and teachers from Delhi University and JNU will hold a march from Khalsa College to Arts Faculty. According to reports, left-wing student organisation AISA will carry out march even as NSUI is planning to sit on hunger strike. Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal had said ‘DCW Home Guards’ were providing security to the Kargil martyr’s daughter, who complained of receiving “rape threats” allegedly from ABVP members. Gurmehar Kaur (20), a Delhi University student, met Maliwal and alleged that she had been receiving rape threats on social media allegedly by ABVP members.
