RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav on Monday came out in defence of tainted RJD leader Mohammad Shahabuddin over his controversial statement on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Defending Shahabuddin, Lalu said the Siwan leader has said nothing wrong in his interaction with media. “Shahabuddin has said nothing like this, he has said that Lalu Ji is his leader. Nitish Kumar has no problem with this,” Lalu said while speaking to reporters.

Shahabuddin, who came out on bail after 11 years, had said that Nitish Kumar is a ‘CM of circumstances’. “He is not a people’s chief minister, he became CM only because of his alliance with RJD, just like Madhu Koda in Jharkhand,” the former Siwan MP had said right after his release. However, Nitish Kumar declined to react to his statement calling them as ‘unimportant’.

Continuing his arrogance for the second day, Shahabuddin blatantly said that he is not bothered by what Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has said about him, as he is not his leader. “Nitish Kumar may be the leader of the House, but he is not my leader, I am a part of RJD and my leader is Lalu Prasad Yadav.” He said that he didn’t visit any leader in the state after his release.

On an earlier occasion, Lalu had evaded a question on Shahabuddin’s release. ‘Apko kya taklif hai (what problem you are having),’ Lalu had asked reporters when asked about Shahabuddin. The Patna High Court granted bail to Shahabuddin in controversial Rajiv Roshan case. Shahabuddin was found guilty in 2004 of abduction and murder of brothers Girish Raj and Satish Raj. Court ruled that Shahabuddin brutally murdered the two brothers after giving them “an acid bath.”
