In a major attack in Assam on Friday, terrorists opened fire on civilians, killing at least 14 people. Reports suggest that the terrorists were dressed in outfits of the Indian Army. A four-member team of the National Investigative Agency (NIA) also visited Kokrajhar in Assam where terrorists had killed 14 people. The team was given the responsibility to prepare a detailed report of the incident after a thorough probe. PM Narendra Modi also tweeted that he was saddened about Kokrajhar attacks and assured that the Home Ministry was in touch with Assam Government and was monitoring the situation carefully.

Calling the terrorist attack in Assam’s Kokrajhar “unfortunate”, MoS Home Kiren Rijiju said, “We will make sure that all the victims are taken care of.” “This is very unfortunate and a matter of concern for us,” he said. “Peace had started prevailing in the North-east region, and the fact that such an attack has happened is a matter of concern,” he added. Reports suggest that as many as 14 people have been killed after a group of terrorists opened fire on civilians, using automatic weapons and grenades.
