Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday urged the people of the state to implement yoga in their lives, adding that his government will make plans to ensure that the benefits of yoga reach everyone.
“Today is a big day in the history of Haryana. More than 25, 000 people performed yoga at a place, this has never happened in Haryana before. More than 30, 000 people participated in the event at Rajpath. I would like to congratulate all of them. I appeal to the people of Haryana to implement yoga in their lives. Yoga is good for their body and mind,” Khattar told mediapersons after participating in the International Yoga day event at Karnal
“Such events are not just government programs, we are making plans so that yoga benefits everyone….We will also give importance to cleanliness and well being of people,” he added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who inaugurated the celebrations in Delhi, dubbed the International Yoga Day as the beginning of a new era of peace and goodwill, thanking all those who have contributed to the development of the great discipline.
An estimated 40,000 people participated in the celebrations in the national capital, with around two billion people taking part across the world.
The yoga celebrations are being organised after the United Nations had in December last year declared June 21 as International Yoga Day.
The proposal was mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his address to the UN General Assembly last year.
