In yet another train derailment incident in one day, at least two coaches of a goods train went off the track near Khandala in Maharashtra on Thursday. This derailment comes hours after two trains derailed today- one in the national capital and the other in Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra. As of now, no casualty has been reported so far. The reason for the derailment was also not yet clear. The Central Railway spokesperson told PTI, that two wagons of a goods train derailed near Khandala, registering it as the third train accident reported in the country today. Two wagons of the train derailed at around 3:55 pm, even as the railways was dealing with two derailments which happened earlier in the day.
Sunil Udasi, the Chief Public Relations Officer, Central Railway was quoted by PTI as saying, “Two wagons of the goods trains derailed in Khandala this afternoon. We are in the process of clearing the tracks.”
Earlier in the day, Rajdhani Express in Delhi derailed. The engine and a power coach of the Rajdhani Express from Ranchi came off tracks near Minto Bridge. However, there were no injuries in the Rajdhani mishap. Also, Shaktipunj Express derailed near Sonbhadra in Uttar Pradesh today in the morning. At least seven coaches of the Shaktipunj Express came off the tracks. The incident occurred near Obara around 6 am.

On August 19, the Utkal Express had derailed in the Muzaffarnagar district, killing 22 people and injuring 156. About 100 passengers were injured when 10 coaches of the Kaifiyat Express had derailed after crashing into a dumper which had strayed on to the tracks in the Auraiya district on August 23, as per the reports by PTI.
