Following the peace talks held with BJP and RSS leaders today, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan has stated that such violent attacks will be reigned in by both parties and that local level units will also take up local issues at the ground level through talks. An all-party meet will be called on August 6th. Meanwhile, the FIR in connection with the RSS activist’s murder states this is a case of political killing due to the regional-level political rivalry. Six persons have reportedly been arrested in connection with the murder of RSS activist E.Rajesh at Sreekaryam in Thiruvananthapuram.
Measures announced by Kerala CM as part of the peace talks include asking cadres to refrain from committing any acts of violence or assault on party workers or party offices. To prevent such incidents from happening again, both parties will create awareness drive among the cadres. Further to this, an all-party meeting will be held at 3 PM on August 6th to discuss the recent events connected with violent happenings in the state.
The consensus to refrain from violence will be followed up by several bilateral talks in politically sensitive areas such as Kannur and Kottayam, besides Thiruvananthapuram.
Meanwhile, the Congress party had lashed out at both BJP and CPM in the state for triggering violence in the capital city.
“Both CPM and BJP are responsible for the violence. For the first time, Thiruvananthapuram has witnessed such a shameful and tragic incident of political attack and hacking,” Ramesh Chennithala, senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition had told reporters.
CPM and BJP have come under considerable criticism following the death of RSS activist E.Rajesh at Thiruvananthapuram. The capital city has been on high alert since yesterday and security beefed up across the main public areas around the city.
