A gang rape victim in Kerala had to take back her complaint to state police against the accused after the cops shamed her. This information was shared on Facebook by popular dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi. She wrote in Malayalam that the one of the policemen asked the gangrape victim: “who among the rapists pleasured you the most”.
The Facebook post has gone viral and even Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan’s office has promised action in the matter. On Thursday, the woman and her husband appeared in public, while covering their faces and narrated their story. NDTV India quoted the woman as saying: “I do not want a police case because cops have been shaming us. More than rape, we couldn’t take the threats from cops anymore.”

In her post, Bhagya Lakshmi wrote that the woman and her husband couldn’t stop crying when they came to meet her. Both are residents of Thrissur, which is about 280 km away from Kerala’s capital Thiruvananthapuram. The gang rape victim said four friends of her husband had visited her house in the beginning of the year. At that time, her husband was not at home.
Bhagya Lakshmi wrote that the 35-year-old victim went out with the men as she trusted them. But they took the car out of the city and all of them took turns on her.
One of the men is a senior official of a political party. The woman said that she could inform her husband about the incident three months later in August as she was in so much pain.
