Army Chief General Bipin Rawat who is in Uttarakhand to attend the passing out parade held at the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun while speaking about the unrest in Kashmir said youth in the state are being misguided by the social media platforms, reported ANI. “Youth in Kashmir are being instigated by a misinformation campaign on social media,” Rawat was quoted saying by the agency. He talked about the importance of adding women officers in the military by saying they can help counter many tricky situations. “Humen rank and file mein, jawanon aur sardar sahebaan hote hai, uss rank mein bhi ladies ki zaroorat hai (We have jawans and sahebaans in the rank and file but also need ladies),” he said.

“Kyunki humlog kayi baar jab operation mein jaate hain awaam ka saamna karna padta hai. kayi baar ladies hamare aage aa jaati hai (Because when we go for the operations, we have to face the people and many times ladies come in front of us),” he added. Rawat said they will start by including women as military jawans and then will take the next step. “Firstly, we will start with women as military police jawans, will take next step after success there,” he said.

Taking about the mischiefs around the border, Rawat said if India will have the modern technology, people won’t have to face some many problems. “Agar hamare paas modern technology ho, sahi tarah se istemaal kiya jaaye, awaam ko itni takleef nahi hogi, hum bhi saksham honge (if we have the modern technology, and we use it properly, people won’t face these many problems, we will be capable enough),” Rawat said.

Talking about India-China relations, Rawat said a wring perception has been formed. “Kabhi kabhi China helicopter use karta hai, hum bhi istemaal karte hain, lekin perception se lagta hai transgression ho raha hai (Sometimes China uses helicopters, so can we but there is a perception that transgression is happening),” he concluded.
