The gunshots were heard in Batnoor Lassipora area of Pulwama district. The area has been cordoned off by security forces. It has been learned that terrorists had opened fire on security forces. Security forces are retaliating. Terrorists have reportedly managed to flee.
A few days ago, Two terrorists, including Lashkar-e-Taiba militant, were killed in an encounter between terrorists and security forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. The slain LeT terrorist was identified as Mohd Shafi Shergujari. Troops of 130 Bn CRPF, 55 RR and SOG Pulwama involved in the operation, according to a CRPF official. “Unconfirmed presence of 4-5 terrorists, operation is going on, said the CRPF official. Authorities had also suspended train services from Banihal to Srinagar as one of the railway stations is near the Pulwama encounter site, according to a report.

Before that, a fierce encounter broken out on between security forces and Hizbum Mujahideen militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Tral area of Pulwama district.
Last month, four army men, including a Major, and an equal number of militants were killed while 8 other security personnel and a civilian were injured in two separate encounters in Kashmir, officials said. In an encounter in Kralgund area of north Kashmirs Kupwara district, security forces gunned down three militants hiding in a residential house, a police official said. Major S Dahiya was injured in the encounter and later succumbed to his injuries, the official said.
Shockingly, another encounter took place in Parray Mohalla of Hajin area of Bandipora district. The gunbattle erupted after security forces cordoned off the area following information about presence of militants there, the police official said. As the security forces were closing in, they came under fire from the hiding militants, the official said, adding 10 security personnel, including an officer, were injured in this. Of them, three personnel succumbed to their injuries later, the official said.
One militant, whose identity has not been ascertained yet, was also killed in the operation, he added. The two encounters took place two days after four militants and two soldiers were killed in a gunbattle in south Kashmirs Kulgam district. Two civilians were also killed in that encounter.
