In yet another terrorist attack on the security forces in Kashmir by Pakistan based terrorists, this time in Shopian district of the state, has led to the injury of 3 jawans and 5 civilians. They were travelling in a convoy when they were attacked. The injuries are not life-threatening. The ultras had thrown the grenade at the CRPF men around 11.40 AM, a police official revealed. He added that all the injured were taken to hospital.
According to reports, a grenade was thrown at the convoy. The area has been cordoned off by the armed forces and the efforts are on to catch the militants involved. However, at the moment the ultras look to have left the area as the immediate search operations have yielded nothing for the forces.
This comes quickly in the wake of the Pampore attack, where the security forces are trying to dislodge 2 militants who have taken shelter inside a government building. That encounter is still ongoing even as the forces have deployed mortar to dislodge them. The building is still standing but is smoking heavily. This encounter is in its second day.
The latest attack comes in the wake of the Pakistani army pushing in a huge number of terrorists and activating sleeper cells to launch attacks in India in retaliation for the Indian Army’s tremendously successful surgical strikes that killed as many as 9 Pakistani armymen and around 50 terrorists across the line of control (LoC) in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK).
