Kashmir attack: A BSF jawan Rameez Ahmad Parray was shot dead in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora region (Hajin) today by terrorists, ANI reports. Four of Rameez Ahmad Parray’s family members were also injured in the firing by terrorists. Parray was not in his uniform at the time of his killing, reports CNNNews 18. The channel added that the terrorists even fired at his 70 year old father during a scuffle. Parray himself was home on vacation from his duty. According to the channel, terrorists first tried to kidnap the BSF jawan, but then killed him after failing to take him away.
The terrorists had entered the residence of the BSF constable in Parrey Mohalla, Hajjan in north Kashmir, PTI said. Parrey had come home just a few days ago. Parray reportedly died on the spot. His father, two brothers and an aunt were injured by the terrorists. The woman was in critical condition and the rest were reported to be stable.
In his reaction, the Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, S P Vaid, termed the incident as “barbaric and inhumane”. He added that the guilty would not be spared. Rameez Parrey (30) belonged to the 73rd battalion of the BSF. Parrey served the BSF for six years, according to PTI. This is the second such killing in Kashmir. On May 9 this year, an Army officer from the region, Lieutenant Umer Fayaz, was abducted and shot dead by militants in Shopian district. He too was on leave from duty.
