Kashmir attack: The Army has foiled another infiltration bid in Jammu and Kashmir’s Machil sector and killed 4 terrorists in an encounter, ANI reported. Earlier on Monday, the Army had foiled another early morning terrorist attack on a camp. According to the Indian Express, the terrorist group was identified as Lashkar e Taiba group that was planning a fidayeen suicide attack on a CRPF camp in North Kashmir’s Bandipore region.
The army had succeeded in killing 4 terrorists. According to reports, heavily armed terrorists had tried to enter the CRPF camp at Sumbal at around 3:30 AM and started opening fire at one of the sentry posts. The security forces had retaliated and neutralised all 4 terrorists in the process. The security forces had also launched a search operation and the region had been cordoned off. According to reports, 4 AK-47 rifles, one Underbarrel Grenade Launcher and ammunition had been recovered from the slain militants. Shesh Paul, the DGP of Jammu and Kashmir Police had said that a huge quantity of other ammunitions had also been recovered from the terrorists.
The incidents of cross-border terrorism have seen a rise in the last few weeks. The Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh meanwhile has said that the violence in Kashmir will not last for too long. The Indian Army on May 23 had released a video of “punitive fire assaults” on Pakistani positions across the Line of Control, inflicting some damage. In response, Pakistan had also released a video showing attacks by its army on Indian posts along the LoC. Although, the Indian Army had rejected the video and had called it a false and fabricated one. The army had also trashed the Pakistan military’s claim that five Indian soldiers were killed in Tatta Pani sector along the LoC last week when Pakistani troops had retaliated to Indian fire.
