The Police have pasted a seizure notice on the house of the person who is said to be main accused behind the murder of Chandan Gupta during violence in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj on Republic Day, reports ANI. According to a PTI report, at least three shops, two buses, and a car were torched after Chandan Gupta was killed in clashes following stone-pelting by a mob on a motorcycle rally was taken out to celebrate Republic Day. The incident happened during Tiranga bike yatra organised by Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad. Police said that unidentified people hurled stones at the volunteers of the rally. The incident took place on the Mathura-Bareilly highway. As many as 118 people have been arrested in connection with the violence following which security forces are maintaining strict vigil. The incident drew flak from Governor Ram Naik who described it as a “blot” on Uttar Pradesh and said it was a “matter of shame”.

Earlier today, UP CM Yogi Adityanath broke his silence on Kasganj clashes. The UP CM said that strict actions will be taken against the perpetrators of violence and those indulging in anarchy will not be spared. “Our government is committed to provide security to each and every citizen. Those indulging in anarchy will not be spared,” he told mediapersons.
The violence resulted in UP government’s transferring Kasganj Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar Singh to a less significant post. Piyush Srivastava was appointed the new Kasganj SP. Singh was sent to Police Training School, Meerut, in the same rank.
