BJP has slammed comedian Kapil Sharma for dragging the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a bribery incident, instead of informing the police. On Friday morning, Kapil tweeted that he had to pay Rs 5 lakh bribe to BMC for the construction work of his office. “I am paying 15 cr income tax from last 5 year n still i have to pay 5 lacs bribe to BMC office for making my office,” he tweeted while tagging PM Modi with the post. In another tweet, he also asked if this is PM Modi’s ‘achche din’.

The BJP, however, didn’t like Kapil’s question to the PM. Instead, the party said Kapil is already enjoying ‘achce din’ as he is paying Rs 15 crore tax. Slamming the comedian, BJP MP and Bhojpuri film star Manoj Tiwari told India Today TV: “Kapil is already having ‘achche din’. He is paying Rs 15 crore tax. It was wrong to have dragged the PM’s name in the incident.” Tiwari said that Kapil should have gone to police first instead of seeking publicity by tagging the PM in his tweet.

Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis asked the comedian to reveal the name of the guilty BMC officials so that action could be taken against him. The CM also asked the BMC to take strict action against the guilty officials.

Another BJP MLA in Maharashtra, Ram Kadam has filed a complaint against BMC on the basis of Kapil’s allegation, according to reports. However, the MP’s move raised the question of VIP treatment being meted out to the comedian as politicians rarely come forward to help when the common man is in trouble.

Responding to Kapil’ allegation against BMC, Kadam said as an Indian citizen, he would have gone to Cyber Cell to complain about this, then why didn’t Kapil Sharma complain? He added that Kapil Sharma and those BMC officials should be called in and the matter should be investigated.

Meanwhile, BMC has responded that the office being constructed by the BMC is illegal.
