Close on the heels of Dana Majhi incident in Kalahandi district of Odisha, a man lost his son on his shoulders as hospitals denied medical help in UP's Kanpur today.

Close on the heels of Dana Majhi incident in Kalahandi district of Odisha, a man lost his son on his shoulders as hospitals denied medical help in UP’s Kanpur today. A photo released by the ANI shows the man carrying his son on his shoulders on a road in Kanpur. The man told the agency that he had to carry his ill son on his shoulders from hospital to hospital in Kanpur as they denied to provide “medical facilities” to his son.

The incident once again highlights poor medical care facilities and apathy of doctors in Uttar Pradesh. A few days ago, images of  Dana Majhi carrying his dead wife on his shoulders, as the hospital allegedly denied him a vehicle to carry the body back home, had created an outrage across the country. Majhi’s wife had died of tuberculosis on Wednesday last at a hospital in Bhawanipatna, the district town of Kalahandi. However, when the hospital staff allegedly refused to provide him with a vehicle, the poor tribal man took upon himself to carry his wife’s body back to home at Melghar village in Kalahandi’s Thuamul Rampur block, which is about 60-km away from Bhawanipatna. The incident even brought shame to India from the international community as even Bahrain Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa reportedly extended financial help to the family drowned in grief.
