Hours after he was arrested in connection with the high-profile Lamborghini crash, Shivam Mishra, the son of local tobacco baron KK Mishra, is out on bail. Shivam Mishra got bail from a court in Kanpur on Thursday.

He was arrested by the police earlier today, four days after the high-profile Lamborghini crash that left several people injured on the VIP Road earlier this week. The arrest was made a day after departmental action was initiated against a Station House Officer over alleged procedural lapses in the handling of the case.

After his arrest, the police produced him before the court of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate around 10 am, seeking 14 days’ judicial custody.
Anant Sharma, counsel for the accused, said the court did not allow it and instead granted him bail on a personal bond of Rs 20,000.

The accident occurred on Sunday near Ring Wala Chauraha when a Lamborghini Revuelto, said to be associated with tobacco exporter KK Mishra’s firm, allegedly went out of control while being driven at high speed.

According to police and eyewitnesses, the luxury car first collided with an autorickshaw and a stationary motorcycle before climbing onto the pavement and hitting pedestrians. Autorickshaw driver Tauseef Ahmed and two motorcyclists, Vishal and Sonu Tripathi, were among those injured in the incident.

An FIR was initially registered on the basis of Ahmed’s complaint against an “unidentified driver” under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita related to rash driving, endangering life and causing hurt by dangerous means. As the investigation progressed, police said evidence pointed to Shivam Mishra being behind the wheel, and his name was subsequently added to the case.

Police Version and Seizure of Vehicle

Kanpur Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal confirmed that the Lamborghini has been seized as part of the probe. He stated that Mishra was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash and was removed from the car by private security personnel who were accompanying him. Authorities have also said they are examining claims that Mishra has an underlying medical condition that may have contributed to the incident.

Investigators are looking into all aspects, including whether there was any mechanical failure or health-related emergency that led to the loss of control.

Eyewitness Accounts and Family’s Defence

Witnesses described the crash as severe, claiming the motorcycle was hit with such force that the rider was flung several feet into the air. The car allegedly rode over part of the motorcycle and dragged it for a short distance before coming to a halt.

Locals alleged that bouncers travelling in a separate vehicle quickly reached the spot after the accident, broke open the Lamborghini’s window and pulled Mishra out while he was unconscious. Some bystanders accused them of attempting to remove him from the scene, which reportedly led to a brief scuffle before he was taken to a hospital. Videos shared widely on social media appear to show security personnel extracting him from the driver’s seat.

Amid speculation that Mishra may have been under the influence of alcohol, police said this would be determined through medical and forensic reports. An official added that tests are also being conducted to examine whether epilepsy or another medical condition could have played a role.

Mishra’s family has maintained that he suffered a seizure while driving and claimed he had experienced similar episodes in recent months. His lawyer, however, has disputed that he was at the wheel, stating that a chauffeur was driving and that Mishra’s health remains fragile. A court application has been filed, and further legal proceedings are awaited.
