The Dalit atrocities continue to be a battleground for the Modi govt and the opposition. With another case from Andhra Pradesh coming to the surface, the scanner is on the NaMo policies and actions yet again. After an intense and heated dicussion in Lok Sabha today about  rising incidents on the Dalit community in Gujarat and now Telangana, opposition questioned the PM’s silence on the same.

Congress MP from Madhya Pradesh, Jyotiraditya Scindia today asked the PM to speak up in the Parliament about the burning issue. Using strong words, Scindia said that ‘the PM speaks about Dalits and Kashmir issue in MP and Telangana but not in the Parliament.Why?’. He further added ‘BJP ka asli mukhauta aaj utar raha hai‘ ( The real mask of BJP is now wearing off).

Aiming at potshot at the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, the MP from Guna said that ‘Swachhta sadak par nahin, gali mein nahi…swachhta humein maansikta aur dil mein laani hogi, tab hamara Bharat swachh banega’ (Cleanliness is not on roads or lanes..it needs to be in the minds and hearts then only India will truly become clean).

However, BJP leaders M Venkaiah Naidu and Home Minister Rajnath Singh replied to Scindia’s allegations by requesting not to politicise the issue. Singh said ‘We can’t make progress until the poor and downtrodden are empowered. Blame game is not the solution’. They also assured that the govt is working towards curbing the incidents.
