Kerala Transport minister, AK Saseendran, a senior leader of CPM-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) is going to face judicial probe, Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan declared today. Saseendran has quit the party over harassment charge. He had resigned saying, “I am resigning on moral grounds. I am making it clear that all allegations charged on me is absolutely baseless. But I am now tendering resignation as it is not right on my path to continue in this position when an investigation is underway,” he said. A private TV news channel aired an audio clip of Saseendaran talking to a woman with sexual connotations, over which a political uproar erupted in the state. Though the woman has made no complaints in the matter nor is the authenticity of the clip has been proven, the 71-year-old minister facing charges has requested Vijayan to order a high-level probe. Also Watch: “It is up to the Chief Minister and government to investigate the matter and they can investigate with any agency. Also I don’t want the government to be on the back foot,” Saseendran said. NCP General Secretary DP Tripathi said that a conspiracy angle cannot be ruled out. Tripathi said that this matter needs to be discussed with the Left. On the other hand, Bharatiya Janata Party has alleged that Saseendaran was guilty hence he has resigned. “The Kerala Minister has resigned because I think he is guilty. I think we need to welcome such moves where leaders realise that the public is watching, the media is watching,” BJP leader Shaina NC told ANI. “I am resigning to uphold political morality and my party’s integrity in this coalition. It is not fair to continue as Minister when an enquiry is on. What is important is for me to prove my innocence in this issue. I don’t remember talking to anyone in this way and only a detailed probe can establish the truth,” Saseendaran told reporters.
