In a shocking incident, a 42-year-old software professional committed suicide by jumping from the window of his apartment, as reported by PTI. The man, namely, K Ravi Kumar jumped from the third floor of his apartment in Secunderabad on Sunday. Reportedly, Kumar was suffering from depression and was under huge mental stress since 2004, and he was also jobless. Speaking to PTI, Karkhana Police Station Inspector B Janaiah said, “K Ravi Kumar, a software professional who had returned from the United States, was under mental stress and depression since 2004 following an accident and was jobless.” While investigating, a video footage of the incident was found that shows the man jumping from the window of his apartment. Officials assume that the video might have been captured by some local residents who saw him jump.
Reportedly, Kumar had a wife who worked at a shop and no children. He used to often engage in quarrels with her. Hours before he took the decision to end his life, Kumar had a fight with his wife, following which she left for work. The incident took place at 3:45 pm. After Kumar was found prone on the ground, he was shifted to a nearby hospital by bystanders. However, his injuries were too severe and he was declared dead there. Kumar had jumped from the sliding window of his apartment and had suffered serious injuries on his head. As per the preliminary reports of the incident, the reason that is cited for his committing suicide was depression. However, no suicide note has been found.
In a separate incident, On January 23, 2018, a man, named Amit committed suicide by consuming rat poison. The incident took place months after his brother Vikas Jha had set himself ablaze. Vikas had sustained 80-90 per cent burns, following which he was declared dead. Vikas was booked in several cases, ranging from molestation, robbery, and assault to cheating and criminal intimidation, as reported by The Indian Express.
