AISA student leader Anmol Ratan, who is facing the accusation of raping a 1st-year PhD student, has surrendered before police in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj police station. A 28-year-old PhD student had filed a complained of rape against Ratan on Sunday. The complainant in her FIR had alleged that she was raped by Ratan, who allegedly spiked her drink with a sedative. The victim said that she made a Facebook post earlier this year asking his friends for a movie called ‘Sairat’. As per the victim, Anmol messaged that he has a copy of the film and took her to his hostel room, where he allegedly committed the crime.
“She alleged that Anmol messaged her that he is has a copy of the film. She further added that on August 20 Anmol picked her from her hostel to give her the film and took her to his hostel named Brahmaputra where he offered her some drinks and after that committed sexual assault with her and did not allow her to go and threatened her,” Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Nupur Prasad said was quoted as saying by news agency IANS. A case under section 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code was registered against Anmol.
