Multiple rounds of gunshots were heard on late Friday, soon after security forces removed off a village in Kulgam district in Jammu and Kashmir, reported a news agency recently. According to the report, two terrorists are believed to be hiding around the vicinity, and one civilian is reported to be killed.
This is the second time within 3 days when terrorist intrusion have been reported near the outskirts of Jammu. Earlier this week, 3-4 terrorists targeted an Army base XVI Corps headquarters in Nagrota which is located on the outer region of Jammu. Two officers and five jawans were killed in the incident. Defence spokesperson Lt Colonel Manish Mehta said two officers were among seven Army personnel dead, reported The Indian Express.
The same day witnessed a separate terrorist attack in Samba district, three terrorists were gunned down by the Border Security Force along the IB. A BSF jawan was also injured in the operation. In another incident that took place on November 25, an army jawan and two terrorists were killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
The clash between the Army and terrorists took place in Naidkhai area after the search operations were conducted in the area suspected by the intelligence agencies. Two AK 47 rifles, one UBGL and other weaponry were recovered from the dead terrorists.
Currently, a high red alert has been announced across the state, including the Jammu-Srinagar national highway. Security level has also been stepped up in Katra town and the Vaishno Devi shrine.
