Jharkhand News, Hemant Soren Latest News: In a major political turn of events in Jharkhand, Hemant Soren on Wednesday resigned as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand. He has been taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate following over seven hours of questioning.

The ED recovered Rs 36 lakh in cash and two cars in searches at the Jharkhand CM’s South Delhi residence on January 30. The ED searches were linked to agency’s probe into an alleged land scam linked to CM Soren.
Ahead of the meeting with CM Hemant Soren, Jharkhand minister Banna Gupta claimed that all JMM legislators are united and that the CM is “very confident”.

Amid reports of ED building up a strong case against the Jharkhand CM, TV reports suggest that the JMM may be exploring the option of replacing Hemant Soren with his wife Kalpana as the Chief Minister in the event of the former’s arrest.
Section 144 has been imposed within a 100-metre radius of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s residence. Soren was reported to have arrived in the state capital today. He also chaired a meeting of JMM MLAs at his residence.
Amid the ongoing probe in a money laundering case against Jharkhand Chief Minister, unconfirmed TV reports claimed that Hemant Soren may be considering resigning from his post and announcing an alternative. Notably, Soren’s wife Kalpana was present at the meeting chaired by the CM at his Ranchi residence today.
