In a step that has marked the new level of worship by supporters of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, one of her followers have spent a huge amount of money in distributing tender coconuts for the crowd gathered at the Apollo hospital, where the ailing AIADMK supremo is under treatment.
An auto driver, Sugumar has already spent close to Rs 19,000 in feeding his fellow supporters of Jayalithaa.
And he was not the only one to do so. Along with him, scores of others have also distributed food for those outside the hospital praying for the speedy recovery of their beloved amma.
There is no secret of the fan following that the 68-year old chief minister has in the state, which was evident when scores of her followers celebrated on streets after she was acquitted in the Disproportionate Assets case in May 2015 by the Karnataka High Court.
The state chief minister is in the city hospital for more than two weeks now, where she is undergoing lung de-congestion treatment.
Since her admission in the hospital hosts of dignitaries visited her including Acting Governor Vidya Sagar Rao, BJP chief Amit Shah, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Kerala Governor P Sathasivam and chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, her cabinet and party colleagues along with many others.
On Tuesday, O Paneerselvam was given charge of all her portfolios for the time being, with ailing Jayalalithaa continuing at the helm of affairs.
