With hatred against people from Tamil Nadu spreading like wildfire in Bengaluru, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has written to her Karnataka counterpart Siddaramaiah requesting him to ensure safety and security of Tamilians residing in the state.

The ongoing violent protests over Cauvery Water sharing dispute across Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have attracted global attention. With hatred against people from Tamil Nadu spreading like wildfire in Bengaluru, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has written to her Karnataka counterpart Siddaramaiah requesting him to ensure safety and security of Tamilians residing in the state.

Earlier in the day, CM Siddaramaiah wrote a letter to J. Jayalalithaa voicing concerns of “incidents of violence” against Kannada-speaking people in the neighbouring state.

To prevent any untoward incident, the city administration has taken steps. As a preventive measure, Section 144 CrPC imposed in Bengaluru City from 5 PM today. 15,000 police men and officers have been deployed across the city along with around 270 Cheethas (police patrol vehicles) to maintain strict vigil. Quick Reactions teams, Rapid Action Force teams, City Armed Reserve police, K’taka State Reserve Police are on the roads to maintain law-and-order situation.
