President Pranab Mukherjee once again left for Chennai from Delhi on Tuesday afternoon to pay homage to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa who died on Monday night after prolonged illness at Apollo Hospital. Her mortal remains are placed at Rajaji Hall in Chennai for people to pay last respect to their beloved leader. An Indian Air Force plane carrying President Pranab Mukherjee to Chennai was returned from the mid-way due to some technical snag when he flew earlier on the day. The problem was taken care of on immediate basis and soon the plane became ready to take the President to Chennai.
Jayalalithaa was admitted to the hospital on September 22 this year after she complained of fever and dehydration. Since then, her followers were praying for her recovery and good health. After over two months of illness, she suffered cardiac arrest on Sunday night. Soon the news surfaced, a large number of people were seen gathered outside the hospital. While many were broke down in tears, others were constantly praying for her health.
The Hospital declared Jayalalithaa dead on Monday night after which her body was taken to her residence Poes garden. On the following day at around 6am, the body was taken to Rajaji hall where a large number of people were waiting to have her last glimpse. From political leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress vice President Rahul Gandhi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to superstar Rajinikanth and many others visited Rarajihall to pay homage to Jayalalithaa.
