The police also recovered 1 AK-47 rifle & 1 pistol from the terrorists.
Two terrorists were killed and two police personnel were hurt in a joint operation by the Baramulla Police and 52 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. The police also recovered 1 AK-47 rifle & 1 pistol from the scene of the gunbattle. The combat operations are underway and the entire area has been segregated off by the security forces.
When asked the operation, a police official said, “Security forces launched an operation in Amargarh area of Baramulla district this morning following information about presence of militants in the area.” He also said that the encounter broke out during the cordon and search operations which also resulting in the killing of two militants whose identity and group affiliation was not yet ascertained.

As per Indian Express report, a militant from Al-Badr terrorist Muzaffar Ahmed was killed in an encounter with Army and the Police in Machu area of Budgam district on January 6. The report stated that the militant, who was killed in the anti-terrorist operation was earlier known to be associated with Lashkar-e-taiba.
During the high alert around the border regions following the Republic day function, security forces arrested two militants belonging to the Lashkar-e-Taiba group were gunned down in Ganderbal area of central Kashmir on January 24. A total of two AK-47 rifles were also recovered from the arrested militants.
In a similar incident earlier this month, three militants were killed in an overnight ambush with security forces in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district. During the combat, three AK-47 rifles were recovered from the encounter site. Police claimed that all militants locals and belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen outfit. As per the Rashtriya Rifles three terrorists of Hizbul Mujahideen were killed during the encounter and there were no collateral damage.
