Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti willl expand her council of ministers tomorrow. It will be the first expansion of her old ministry since forming the PDP-BJP Government on April 4 last year, with induction of one or two PDP members.
As per the arrangement between the two allies, the PDP has a quota of 14 ministers, which included the chief minister, while BJP has 11 ministerial berths. As of now, PDP has 12 Ministers and BJP has 11 Ministers which include Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Kumar Singh and Sajjad Lone.
As per reports, PDP MLA from Amira Kadal Altaf Bukhari may stage a comeback. Bukhari was the minister in the Mufti Mohammed Sayeed government. He was not included in the cabinet when Mehbooba took over as the the Chief Minister last year. There are reports that Mehbooba Mufti also likely to induct an MLA from South Kashmir in her ministry.
Apart from Bukhari, Javid Mustafa Mir and two ministers of state Mohammad Ashraf Mir and Abdul Majeed Padroo, who were part of an earlier government led by her father Mufti Sayeed, had been dropped by her. BJP had dropped MLA Sukhnandan Choudhary. There can be a maximum of 25 ministers in the state.

Last month, she had attacked those opposing setting up of colonies for Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley, saying that under the prevailing security situation Pandits cannot go back to live in their original villages when even political workers and MLAs and MLCs are seeking a protective set-up. She said these people do not want in their “heart of hearts” for the displaced people to return.
