Indian Railways took an initiative to restore normalcy in Kashmir with running children special train. Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti flagged off the first-of-its-kind train on Sunday at Banihal that en routes from Quazigund, Anantnag, Awantipur, Srinagar, Budgam, Sopore and Baramula. Expressing happiness over the move of the IR, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu informed about it on his official Twitter account. In a series of tweet, he mentioned about the initiative.

The union minister wrote that nearly 612 children of various schools will board the train. The railways department is planning to run the children special train every second Sunday in coordination with Jammu and Kashmir state education department, shared Prabhu. He emphasized the need of peace in the valley and called it “beneficial for all”.

The state is under chaos and clashes after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in an encounter in July this year followed by several attacks along with the Line of Control.

It may be mentioned here that the rail service was also suspended for over four months due to the unrest in the Valley before started in second half of November, connecting north and south parts of Kashmir initially.
