Kerala has transformed from God’s own country to God’s forsaken one, according to BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi. Slamming the LDF government in the southern state over reported killings of RSS and BJP workers, Lekhi accused the ruling dispensation of failing to tolerate anyone else in a democratic system. In Parliament yesterday, she claimed that political opponents in the state were eliminated in Talibani style, as per report in Indian Express. Lekhi has mentioned several names like Pramod, Ramachandran, Vineesh, Vishnu, Ramit and others and said nobody would understand them. In a scathing attack on the CPI(M), Lekhi said that those who pontificate on intolerance and talk of democratic values do not tolerate other ideologies in a democracy. Claiming that a total of 40 Congress workers had been killed in Kannur, Lekhi questioned the party’s silence on the issue.
As per the report, Lekhi said that the place where Rohith Vemula hailed from had witnessed 50 incidents of attacks on women, some of them Dalit. Of the 14 persons she had named, four were Dalits. Sharpening her attack on CPI(M), Lekhi said that they don’t want another Ram Nath Kovind to be born because the Politburo of the CPM has no Dalit member.
Lekhi’s remarks drew prompt retort from the MPs of the Left parties.
Another BJP MP Prahlad Joshi said 17 BJP and RSS workers were killed in Kerala in the last 17 months and demanded a probe into the deaths by either the CBI or the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Joshi alleged that terrorists were involved in the killings. Joshi alleged that maximum murders had taken place in the area from where Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan hails.
